Born in Camp Crook, South Dakota on October 18, 1926, he lived his early years in Buffalo Gap and Edgemont, S.D. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a graduate of the University of Colorado as well as the Rutgers University Graduate School of Banking and the Colorado School of Banking. Read More	EDWIN LEWIS KEATING died on November 21, 2002, after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Camp Crook, South Dakota on October 18, 1926, he lived his early years in Buffalo Gap and Edgemont, S.D. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a graduate of the University of Colorado as well as the Rutgers University Graduate School of Banking and the Colorado School of Banking. Ed began his banking career in the Black Hills of South Dakota, working for Southern Hills Bank and Rapid City National Bank. After moving to California in 1960, he worked as a commercial banker for Security Pacific Bank, Lloyds Bank and City National Bank where he was a senior Vice President until his retirement. After retiring, he remained active as a real estate broker. Ed was an outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, backpacking and skiing. He was an accomplished pianist and had a great interest in geology and rock collecting. He was an active supporter of the Boy Scouts of America, the American Legion, and served in leadership roles for many service organizations. A loving husband and father, he is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jean, three sons: Kevin, Brian and Larry; two daughters: Ann Phillips and Kim King, eleven grandchildren and two brothers: Bernard, of Sonora, California and Wilbur, of Carson City, Nevada. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Laguna Woods on November 30, with internment at Ascension Cemetery in Lake Forest. Memorial contributions may be made to Hoag Cancer Center, Newport Beach, CA 92658-6100. Published in The Orange County Register 12/12/2002.
