Edwin was the eldest of a family of seven, all but one brother, Albert, having preceded him in death. Owen William Callam son of Edwin and Elizabeth (Hitchcock) Callam was born on January 8, 1863, at Kimblewick near Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, Endland and died at the Pawnee City hospital Dec. 23 at the age of 80. Edwin was the eldest of a family of seven, all but one brother, Albert, having preceded him in death. The family moved to Brandon in Sulfolk province in 1870 and two years later followed the great migration to America. They came to Lincoln and two weeks later went to Pawnee City. The following spring they moved to what is known as the old Callam farm along Turkey Creek, three miles south of Pawnee City. For 70 years Edwin farmed in that same area. On December 10, 1899 he married Lilly Junettie Walther at Blue Springs. They had three children, all living: Mrs. Isla Leetoz Hall of Sussex Junction, Vt., Neil William of Lincoln and Theron Glidden at home. Edwin's fath in Christianity was confirmed into the Episcopal church in England when a small boy. He joined the Pawnee City Methodist church in 1922. He was for 20 years a member of District No. 5 school board and served on election boards. He was a member of Lodge No. 23 A. F. & A. M., for more than 50 years. He became a citizen of the United States in 1921. He leaves his wife; three children; three grandchildren, Meredith, Warren and Shirley Hall, and one brother. The funeral was conduted by Sen. Kenneth Wherry at the Wherry Chapel, with the funeral services by Rev. W. N. Wallis and the Masonic service oration by N. O. Walther of Fremont. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery south of Pawnee City.
