Description	:	Ed Sutton, 62, of Anthony passed away Monday, January 4, 2016 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Wellington, Kansas. Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony, Kansas. Arrangements are with the Prairie Rose Funeral Home of Anthony. A memorial has been established with the Ed Sutton FFA memorial scholarship. Contributions can be left with the funeral home. Edwin Paul Sutton was born February 16, 1953, the son of Lloyd and Maxine (Moad) Sutton in Hardtner, Kansas. He graduated from Hardtner High School in 1971. Ed received an Associate’s Degree from Pratt Junior college, his Bachelor Degree from Ft. Hays State College, and a Master’s Degree from the University of Georgia in Animal Science. He studied Animal Sciences and Genetics (post graduate work included working with Dr. Larry Benyshek involvement with National Cattle Evaluation, EPD’s ultrasound, and all area of animal genetics and breeding). Ed was the ranch manager for the McVay Cattle Company in Hepler, Kansas for 25 years, an agronomy assistant manager at the Anthony Coop and was currently an Ag loan officer for Security State Bank in Wellington. He truly enjoyed all sports and more so when he enabled others to succeed in successful hunting/fishing outings. Ed was a workaholic to a fault- inherited from his father- extreme pride in the fact that a clock served little purpose- if there was work to be done, work until done. His drive and relentless desire to excel in whatever he was doing was admired- yet, made it difficult for others to endure or appreciate the same intensity. He is survived by his sons, Scott Sutton and his wife Sara of Weir, KS and David Swan and wife Brittany of Zebulon, N.C., and daughter, Minnie Sutton of Ft. Scott, KS; 5 grandchildren, McKinley, Marley and Tucker Sutton and Bryson and Brayden Swan; one brother, Greg Sutton and his wife Deborah of Broken Arrow, OK and a sister, Becky Burnside and her husband Jim of Largo, FL; nephew’s, John & Brad Bates and Dane, Josh and Jake Sutton, and one niece, Diane Bates.
