He was born in Atchison, Kansas, January 16, 1925, the son of Leeroy and Helen Bewley Parrett. He was employed by Southwestern Bell in Atchison for 37 years and was a member and officer of the Carriage and Driving Society of Greater Kansas City. He was born in Atchison, Kansas, January 16, 1925, the son of Leeroy and Helen Bewley Parrett. He was employed by Southwestern Bell in Atchison for 37 years and was a member and officer of the Carriage and Driving Society of Greater Kansas City. He served in WWII in the ETO with the 84th Infantry Division. He was twice decorated for heroic achievement. While serving in Germany, he received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Edwin married Ruth Cora Ohl on May 17, 1948, in Sayre, Pennyslvania. Edwin and Ruth had three daughters, Sally (John) Kram of Leavenworth, Kansas, Susan (Jerry) Ingels,of Gladstone, Missouri, and Betty Jo, (Kevin), Pickett of Lansing, Kansas: Two sons, Edward (Connie) Parrett, of Leavenworth, Kansas and Richard (Cheryl) Parrett, of Mission, Kansas. Ruth preceded him in death on Sept. 15, 1975. In April, 1977 he married Martha J. Wahaus. Survivers include his wife Martha of the home, daughters Sally, Susan, and Betty .Jo (BJ), sons Edward (Bud) and Richard (Boo), two sisters Kathleen Whitaker and Helen Lund, both of Atchison, eleven grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Shell and Joyce Paulsen. He was a resident of Atchison and attended schools there. He moved to Leavenworth County in 1985. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, May, 30, 2006 at the Davis Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth. Funeral Services will be held 11:30 A.M. Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at the funeral chapel. The Rev. Dr. Raymond C. Hartjen will officiate. Memorial contributions may be given to the Trinity Episcopal Church of Atchison.
