Read More	Edwin Towsley of Cedar Falls Dies at Age 89 Cedar Falls-- Edwin Russell Towsley, 89, for many years a door to door salesman in Cedar Falls and vicinity,died Sunday at the Christie convalescent home, 691 West Twelfth street, where he had been for about two months. Death was due to ailments incident to his advanced age. He was born in Williams county, Sept. 8. 1860. the son of Russell and Jeanette Towsley. When his father died, his mother brought him as a boy of five to New Hartford, and they located on a small farm near town. He grew to manhood in that vicinity and on Aug. 22, 1883, he married Sara Moore of Mt. Vernon township. They farmed a few years in that vicinity and then moved to Hurley,SD where Mr. Towsley became a salesman for the S.F. Baker Co. When his wife died at Hurley he returned to New Hartford. In 1901 he married Miss Maude Winterburn of Greene, Ia. He continued his work as salesman until 1917, when he bought a farm and engaged in farming. After 13 years off farming, he sold his farm and moved to Cedar Falls. He then became salesman for the Ward Co., which work he continued until about two months ago, when the weight of years forced him to retire, and he entered the convalescent home. Preceding him in death were his two wives and four children. He is survived by a daughter and his two sons. They include Mrs. Etta Coe of Mason City, Edgar of Winthrop and Wayne, New Hartford businessman. There are 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Alberta Corwin, Janesville, and Mrs. Ethel Corwin of Waterloo. He was a member of the Methodist church. The body was taken to Dahl funeral home.
