Her passing was not one of those sudden calamities, for she had been suffering from lung trouble which was beyond the skill of learned doctors and nurses; but for all this when the lamp of life went out, it was none the less painful to bear. After being stricken, she was removed to the Kirksville hospital where pneumonia soon developed. She recovered from that and was able to sit up some in her bed but owing to her weakened condition she grew worse and began failing rapidly on Wednesday and passed away Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock, Dec. 5, 1944, at the age of 22 years, 1 month and 27 days. Edythe May Troutman, youngest daughter of May and Frank Troutman was born near Bonaparte, Iowa, Oct. 9, 1922, in the community where her entire life was spent. She was graduated from Bonaparte high school with the class of 1939, where she was well liked by school-mates and teachers and was forward on the basketball team. She was active and industrious, and had served as saleslady in Bonaparte stores. She had also traveled extensively for one of her years, having visited both coasts. She leaves to mourn her departure her devoted parents, two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Dorothy Reynolds at home for the duration while her husband is at sea, Mrs. Marjorie Easter of Jacksonville, Florida, and Seaman 2nd Class Lloyd Troutman with the U.S.S. Dingham at San Francisco, Calif. One niece, Sandra Lee and one nephew, James Michael, besides a host of aunts, uncles and cousins, also many friends. Edythe had a sunny disposition and a cheery smile for every one, and will be sadly missed in the community. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Bonaparte Methodist church, the pastor, Rev. J.S. Elliott officiating, and music by Mr. and Mrs. Keith Gaston.
