Description	:	JUSTUS, EFFIE M. Effie M. Justus, 80, died Monday, Nov. 20 at Memorial Hospital in Manhattan. Mrs. Justus was born Sept. 6, 1909, on a farm in Allen County, the daughter of William Jackson and Perna Elizabeth Willis Myers. For many years, Mrs. Justus worked in the family business, Justus Upholstery, and then in the 1960s accepted employment with the Kansas Farm Bureau Insurance Company. She retired in 1974. She was a member of the First United Methodist church in Manhattan and was a life member of the Soroptimist Club. On Nov. 23, 1927, she married Harry Luther Young. He died Aug.... Read More	JUSTUS, EFFIE M. Effie M. Justus, 80, died Monday, Nov. 20 at Memorial Hospital in Manhattan. Mrs. Justus was born Sept. 6, 1909, on a farm in Allen County, the daughter of William Jackson and Perna Elizabeth Willis Myers. For many years, Mrs. Justus worked in the family business, Justus Upholstery, and then in the 1960s accepted employment with the Kansas Farm Bureau Insurance Company. She retired in 1974. She was a member of the First United Methodist church in Manhattan and was a life member of the Soroptimist Club. On Nov. 23, 1927, she married Harry Luther Young. He died Aug. 17, 1930. On Oct. 24, 1935, she married William Landon Justus. He died Oct. 13, 1970. Survivors include two sons, Paul E. Justus of Amherst, N.H., and Larry P. Justus, Salina, a daughter, Wilma M. Welch, Holton; two brothers, Arthur Myers of Elsmore and Everett Myers, Denver, Colo.; three sisters, Ona Schooley, Gasconade, Mo., Lola Crum, Indianapolis, Ind., and Beulah Myers, Moran; eight grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. A grandson Eric Justus, died in 1988. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Edward-Yorgesen-Meloan Funeral Chapel in Manhattan. The Rev. Rob Welch will officiate. The graveside service will be at 4 p.m. Friday at the Fairview Cemetery at Mildred. The family suggests memorials to the Arthritis Foundation. Memorials may be sent to the funeral chapel, located at 1616 Poyntz Ave., Manhattan, Kan. 66502. (The Iola Register, November 21, 1989)
