Joined Company F, 95th Illinois Infantry at Grafton, Ill. with his brothers Edgar and Ezra on August 2, 1862. Mustered in September 4, 1862 at Rockford, Ill. Promoted to Corporal. Mustered out August 17, 1865 at Camp Butler, Ill. `````````````````````````` David City News (David City, Nebr.), June 10, 1897, p 7, col. 6 A Saddened Home Egbert Fox, aged 56 years, 2 months and six days, died at his home in Garrison, Nebraska, Sunday evening May 30, 1897, of congestion of the lungs, his illness being of short duration, a little more than forty-eight hours. Mr. Fox was born at Black Rock, Genasee county, New York, March 24, 1841. He moved to Crystal Lake Illinois with his parents when about four years old. Was married to Ione G. King August 18, 1862. He answered his country's call in the fall of 1862, serving three years and fifteen days in the defense of his country, then returning home to his loved ones, they reamined at Crystal Lake until the fall of 1869 when they moved to Butler county where they resided at the time of his death. He leaves a wife, one daughter and three sons to mourn his departure, two daughters having gone before to await his coming. The funeral services were held in the Methodist church at Garrison, conducted by Rev. Bean. His remains were laid to rest in the Pleasant Hill cemetery, conducted thence by the A. O. U. W. of which he was a member. He was also a member of the G. A. R. Mr. Fox will be missed, not only by the wife and children and relatives but by the A. O. U. W. lodge in which he took an active part, and also by the G. A. O. U. W., of Garrison, Neb., loses a worthy and noble member, the family a loving father and husband, be it therefore Resolved, That we extend to the family of the deceased brother our deepest sympathy, and regret in this their bereavement and loss that has come to them and to us. Resolved, That a copy of these resolutions be send to the bereaved family and that copies be sent to the Golden Rod Workman, and our home papers for publication. Resolved, That these resolutions be spread upon the records of our lodge, and the charter of our lodge be draped in mourning for thirty days, as a token of respect to our deceased brother. F.W.
