Description	:	Vet in Co K, 26 Iowa Infantry; father of Robert, Sarah A., and Samuel E. Egbert was wounded in the Civil War, losing his eye site in one eye and most in the other eye. He was honorably discharged at Black River Bridge, Mississippi and went back home to Deep Creek Township, Clinton County Iowa. He was shot by horse thieves in Bellevue and died of his wounds a few days later.
