He was baptized at Ebenezer Church and later became a professing member of the Christian Reformed Church in Corsica, where he remained a lifelong member and he was active as an elder and deacon. Read More	Egbert Zomer, 88, died at the Good Samaritan Center in Corsica on April 25, 2010. Egbert Zomer was born on June 2, 1921 in Douglas County, SD to Albert and Theresa (Star) Zomer. He was baptized at Ebenezer Church and later became a professing member of the Christian Reformed Church in Corsica, where he remained a lifelong member and he was active as an elder and deacon. He attended school through the 8th grade in Douglas County. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the final years of World War II, from 1945 to 1946, spending time in Korea. He married Beulah Kok on February 26, 1947. To this union, six children were born. They farmed at his childhood home southeast of Corsica for 40 years, then moved to Corsica. He worked for many years at the Corsica School Barn. Egbert served several years on the boards of Corsica Christian School and Dakota Christian High School. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, going to auctions, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He died at Good Samaritan Center in Corsica on April 25, 2010 at the age of 88. He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant sons, two grandchildren, Jonathan Geurkink and Christopher Wolbrink; a brother and sister-in-law, Herman and Helen Zomer and sister and brother-in-law, Okkelena (Lee) and Edd Zuidema; and in-laws, Richard and Esther Brondsema, Charles and Helen Maas, Clayton Kok, Art Kok, and Ray Kok.
