Eileen is survived by her daughter, Shelly Anne (Ray) Gibbons of Choteau; a son, Gary William (Connie) Manning of Great Falls; a sister, Rosemary Franklin of Plainview, Texas; a brother, R.J. (Edie) Holbrook of Bothell, Wash.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, William "Bill" Manning; a son, Ron Manning; brothers Hoby, Bernie and Butch Holbrook; and a grandson, Jeff Manning. Eileen was born Nov. 11, 1921, in Zahe, N.D., to Gay and Loretta (Kelly) Holbrook, and was raised in Medicine Lake, Mont. She attended the College of Great Falls from 1940 to 1942, receiving a teacher's certificate in elementary education. She taught in Ulm, worked in civil service at the former East Base (now Malmstrom), and also worked for Skaggs for 24 years prior to retiring in 1983. On June 24, 1945, she married Bill Manning; he passed away July 28, 1988. Eileen was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church since 1935, and was a member of the Altar Society there. She was an alumna of the College of Great Falls and a member of the Veterans Auxiliary and Eagles Auxiliary. She worked hard to make sure her children had a good Catholic education from Our Lady of Lourdes and the original Great Falls Central Catholic High School. She enjoyed her dog, Heidi, playing bingo, working crossword puzzles, church activities, the smell of incense, music, stickers and festive decorations. Her faith was her guiding strength and family was a high priority. She loved to eat barbecued ribs and El Comedor fried ice cream, and especially loved her desserts. People-watching was also a favorite pasttime. Her family would like to extend a special thank you to St. Joseph's Parish in Choteau, the community and lay volunteers who brought communion to Eileen, and also to the staff and residents at Teton Medical Center, who became her extended family.
