Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. Eileen Cora Mueller was born on February 12, 1923 in West Lincoln, NE to Cora and Ernest Schultz. She was one of (7) children and was orphaned in 1934 at the age of 11. She was then placed in a Lutheran orphan's home in Fremont, NE. Out in Potter, NE, Frank and Thekla Mueller were raising (5) boys and longed for a girl. Frank called the orphan's home in Fremont and asked if they had someone that could come out and help them on the farm. The home put Eileen on a train pulled by a black steam engine, gave her 45 cents for a meal and sent her on her way. She arrived in Sidney, NE in the afternoon of May 6, 1936 with 10 cents left over and was met by her new family and passed away almost 77 years later to the day. Eileen became adjusted and went to the St. Paul's Lutheran School near Potter for her 8th grade year. She got confirmed into the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in 1937 and graduated from Sidney High School in 1941. That same year, Frank and Thekla legally adopted Eileen as their daughter. As friends and family know, Eileen was easy to fall in love with. Nothing was different for Kenneth Mueller. On January 4, 1945, they got married two days before he went into WWII. Eileen went to work for the Sioux Ordinance Depot north of Sidney until 1946 when the war was over. She and Kenneth then remained on the farm until 1990, when they moved to Sidney. Eileen was active in the Potter St. Paul's Lutheran Church Ladies Aide and LWML as well as the Social N Club and the Potter Garden Club. She had a huge garden and enjoyed planting flowers. Her favorite thing to do was baking and she was known for her beautiful pies. She and Kenneth also loved Square Dancing and Round Dancing which kept them active for many years.Survivors are her husband, Kenneth of Sidney and two children, Cynthia (Tom) Doggett of Aurora, CO and Tom (Glynis) Mueller of Potter; her grandchildren, Ashley (Justin) Hannant, Jesse Mueller, Breanne (Anthony) Giguere; one great grandchildren, Andrew Thomas Hannant; her brothers, Donal (JoAnne) Mueller of Anchorage, AK, Rev. James (Ramona) Mueller of Yankton, SD, sisters-in-law, Bertha Mueller of Sidney and Emma Schultz of Omaha, NE with many, many nieces and nephews.Eileen was preceded in death by her biological parents, Cora and Ernest Schultz, her legal parents, Frank and Thekla Mueller; siblings Edward (Marie) Schultz, Emil (Dorothy) Schultz, Violet (Whitey) Lukow, Evelyn Schultz, Don Schultz, Beulan Schultz, Wesley Mueller and Jerry Mueller.
