She was most proud of being: Mom to Jerry (& Mary) Sorensen, Mike (& Dixie) Sorensen, and Lori (& Kent) Candee Grandma to Heidi (& Matt) Rohrig, JW (& Megan) Sorensen, Ray (& Maria) Sorensen, Justin (& Kendra) Sorensen, Mandi (& Brian) Eisbach, Angie (& Nick) Schmidt, Josh (& Collen) Candee, Zach (& Lynde) Candee, Seth (& Jessica) Candee, and Gabe Candee Great Grandma to Tucker, Taylor, & Treva Rohrig, Theron, Austin Hersom, & Everly Sorensen, Independence, Michael, & Liberty Sorensen, Devin & Kennedy Carlon, Isabelle & Maxwell Eisbach, Quinn & Ryker Schmidt, Grayson Candee, and Waylon & Witten Candee. Eileen was born at home south of Fontanelle to Fred and Martha (Baudler) Marckmann. She lived in that home most of her 88 years. She was baptized, confirmed, and a lifelong member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church. She graduated from Fontanelle High School in 1950 and married Ray Michael Sorensen. Eileen loved doing things with her family, working on the farm, helping with 4-H projects, creating floats for the 4th of July, and anything for her kids and grandkids. Always wanting to help people, after her kids were grown, she spent many years working in the laundry at the Fontanelle Good Samaritan Society. Family meals and gatherings were most important to her and the kids would tell you that no one can make a roast and mash potatoes quite like hers. Everyone who visited her home needed to be ready to have cookies and coffee or lemonade and were reminded, "no need to rush off". The past couple of years have been very difficult for Eileen because of the pandemic keeping her family and friends from their frequent visits. Ray passed away shortly after their 69th anniversary in 2019 and she was ready to be reunited with him. Several times in the past week, she said that God was ready for her and she wanted to go to Him. Her only request was to have her kids with her and they were…and she will always be with them. Those waiting to welcome Eileen to heaven were husband Ray, granddaughter Allisha Candee, her parents Fred and Martha, brother and sister-in-law Glen (Kelly) and Jean Markmann, and sister Helen Marckmann. Eileen's family thanks everyone for the prayers and many acts of kindness. Memorials will be directed to Emmanuel Lutheran Church (Fontanelle), the Adair County Fair, or Fontanelle Fire Department.
