Description	:	Elaine A. Krumland, 94, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Thursday, March 17, 2016, at Edgewood Vista in Columbus. The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 21 at 10:30 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus with Revs. Patrick Sparling and Peter Jurchen officiating. Interment will be in the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be on Sunday from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Monday from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. Elaine Augusta Krumland was born July 29, 1921, in rural St. Edward, Nebraska, to Clarence and Ella (Salestrom) Nicklasson. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in rural St. Edward. Elaine graduated valedictorian from St. Edward High School in 1939, and then graduated from Lincoln School of Commerce. On November 15, 1942, Elaine married Eugene Krumland at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Eagle, Nebraska. While Eugene was overseas during WWII, Elaine worked as a civilian employee of the United States Army in Omaha, Nebraska. After Eugene’s discharge, the couple moved to Columbus where they made their permanent home. Elaine worked for the Columbus Public Library for nearly 20 years. Elaine was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she was part of the Loyal Club, Couples Club, Evening Guild, and did volunteer work in the church office. She delivered Meals on Wheels for many years and was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She belonged to Samba Card Club and various bridge groups. Elaine enjoyed exercising at the YMCA until she was 90 and was an avid reader. Elaine is survived by: Daughter – Karen (Howard) Boardman of Omaha, NE Granddaughter – Amanda Boardman Grandson – Nathan (fiancée Nancy) Boardman Great Grandchildren – Samara Asagi and Celeste Boardman Son – Gary (Nancy) Krumland of Lincoln, NE Grandson – David (Erin) Krumland Great Grandchildren – Peyton, Kody, and Kipton Krumland Grandson – Michael (fiancée Michelle) Krumland Grandson – Stephen Krumland Daughter – Janelle (Gary) Shepherd of Gretna, NE Grandson – Luke (Melissa) Shepherd Great Grandchildren – Alexis and Alayna Shepherd Daughter – LeAnne (Stan) Emerson of Columbus, NE Grandson - Jeremy (Katie) Emerson Grandson – Bryan (Jessica) Emerson Great Grandchild – Addison Emerson Grandson – Jon Emerson Granddaughter – Kaleigh (Kaleb) Christensen Elaine was preceded in death by: Parents – Clarence and Ella Nicklasson Husband – Eugene Krumland Sisters – Beulah Fredrickson, Ruth Nauenburg, and Dorothy Snyder Brother – Elwyn Nicklasson
