Description	:	Elaine Wentz age 73 years died after fighting a hard battle of 24 years with cancer. She attended Adams High School, graduating in 1957 at the top of her class. She then attended Lincoln School of Commerce in Lincoln. She married Donald Wentz on Sept. 5, 1958 at the Pella Reformed Church. She worked at the nuclear power plant in Hallam, Ne., and several insurance companies in Lincoln and then as a clerk for Dick Shea Auctioneer Service of Sterling, NE. She is a former member of the Pella Reformed Church and the United Methodist Church of Sterling. and current member of the Burr Methodist Church. where she played the piano. She was a 4-H leader for Sterling Spoons and Spools. and a Johnson County Commissioner for 12 years. Survivors include her husband, Donald of Sterling. 2 sons, Mike and wife Kay of Syracuse and Troy Wentz of Sterling. one daughter Lori Wentz and Curtis Filipi of Hickman. 3 grandchildren, Caleb and Ta yor Wentz and Justin Filipi. one sister, Alyce Tejral and husband David of Genoa. several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Carrie (VanDiest) Nieveen and an infant brother. Funeral services were Dec. 22, 2012 at the Douglas Methodist Church with Rev. Lyn Seiser officiating. Burial was in the Sterling Cemetery of Sterling, NE.
