Description	:	Elaine Anna Johnson, 86 years of age, of Holdrege, NE. (formerly of Loomis, NE.), passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Holdrege Memorial Homes, Holdrege, NE. Elaine was born January 20, 1926 on the family farm in Franklin County, southwest of Wilcox, NE. to George F. and Jennie "Margaret" (Harms) Schubert. Elaine was born January 20, 1926 on the family farm in Franklin County, southwest of Wilcox, NE. to George F. and Jennie "Margaret" (Harms) Schubert. Elaine and her twin, Lorraine Schubert were the first born, second child was brother, Dwaine Schubert, followed by the youngest sister, Evon Schubert. She attended grade school at Franklin County, NE. District #55, later attending Wilcox (NE.) High School, where she graduated with the class of 1943. She was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hildreth, NE. Elaine was united in marriage to Kermit Roy Johnson of Loomis on May 2, 1945 at Holdrege, NE. by Reverend Bussertt at the Lutheran parsonage. They made their home on the Clara and Hattie Dane homestead west of Moses Hill,Phelps County, NE. later moving to Glenn and Lillie Johnson's place, east of Loomis, NE. in the mid 1950's. To this union, four children were born: Joan Kay, Gene Larry, Merle Elton, and Janell Sue. Elaine was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church of Holdrege and was active in church serving groups, Bible study, and quilting. She was employed by Phelps Memorial Health Center for 23 years in the Respiratory Therapy Department until her retirement in 1991. Elaine enjoyed sewing and made many quilts for family and friends. She also enjoyed cooking and baking with a specialty for homemade cookies and cinnamon rolls. In her spare time, she was an avid gardener and passed on her love of flowers to both of her daughters. In January of 2005, Elaine began to make her home at Holdrege Memorial Homes with her husband, Kermit, where she resided until her passing. Elaine survivors are: children: Joan Sheen and her husband, Steven "Steve" of Kearney, NE., Gene Johnson and his wife, Marjorie of Douglasville, GA., Merle Johnson and his wife, Debra of Ann Arbor, MI., and Janell Rossen and her husband, Larry of Gothenburg, NE.; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; twin sister, Lorraine Gracey of Holdrege, NE.; brother, Dwaine Schubert and his wife, Sherri of Union, OR. and a host of relatives, and friends. Besides: parents, Elaine was preceded in death by: husband, Kermit Johnson in 2010; sister, Evon Dill, and grandson, Michael Sheen. Interment was in the Moses Hill Cemetery in rural Phelps County, NE. Published in Kearney Hub on July 6, 2012
