| Description | : | From "Blizzard 1949" by Roy V. Alleman, 1991, pages 132, 133 E. L. "Red" Redman was a brakeman for the Union Pacific Railroad. He was killed in a railroad accident east of Stapleton, Nebraska, trying to break through a fourteen foot snowbank. They were trying to take food supplies to Stapleton and Gandy which had been isolated for two weeks by the Blizzard of 1949. It took three men with a cutting torch working for hours in sub-freezing weather to free his body. |
