Description	:	Elberta L. Mankin, 93, of Grand Island, formerly of Trumbull, died Friday, July 29, 2011, with her family by her side, at Good Samaritan Village of Grand Island. Elberta was born Aug. 27, 1917, near Trumbull to Charles and Anna (Perry) Turner. Elberta was preceded in death by her husband, Dean, on April 23, 1977. Survivors are: sons and daughter-in-law, Gordon and Pat Mankin of Arizona, and Stanley Mankin of Trumbull; daughters and a son-in-law, Eldeen Watson of Grand Island, and Roberta and Bob Cool of Aurora; sisters, Dorothy Wood and LaVerne Bish, both of Lincoln; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and four... Elberta was united in marriage to Dean Mankin on June 23, 1940. She lived near Trumbull until she moved to Grand Island in 1990. Elberta was a member of the Trumbull United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, 4-C Club and Eastern Star. She was an avid fan of sports and horse racing. She was a homemaker, gardener, 4-H leader and caregiver to everyone. Above all, Elberta was a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her husband, Elberta was preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Janice (Pember) Mankin; five brothers; and three sisters. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery, Trumbull, NE. Published in The Grand Island Independent on July 30, 2011
