Miss Shafer was a member of First Baptist Church and its Naomi Circle, Friendship Class, the Mission Board and Truthseekers. She had been the head of its prayer chain for decades. She was also a member of its American Baptist Women, the Western Baptist Association and had served as president of the Women's Missionary Society. She had been a volunteer with the American Red Cross. She had been a secretary and office manager for Prudential Insurance for 42 years. Survivors include her fist cousin, Roger (Marian) Shafer, of Greenville, Pa.; and close family, Theresa Brunson, of Goshen, Ind., Andrew (Carrie) Brunson, Laura Brunson and A.J. Brunson. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel. The Rev. George Pirtle will officiate. Burial will be in St. Matthew Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church. Condolences may be expressed at chiles-lamanfh.com
