Cassell, 82, of Dover, passed away surrounded by her children, family and loved ones on Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital following a brief illness. She was born March 1, 1933, in Dover, the daughter of Willis and Hazel (Tuttle) Littlefield, and grew up with her older brother, Bill Littlefield. She graduated from Dover High School and attended McIntosh College. During her life she worked at Strafford Bank in Dover, at Androscoggin Bank and Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. She also assisted her late husband, Robert Cassell, at their business, Cassell Monument Company in Kittery, Maine. In 2002, Eldeane returned to her hometown of Dover where she reunited with old friends and became active in the community. She was a long-time member of the Board of Trustees of The Wentworth Home. In addition, she was a member of the Dover Senior Center and Sunningdale Golf Course. During her retirement, she enjoyed golfing, travelling, photography and spending time with family. She was an avid Celtics fan, and loved horses and dogs. An important part of her life was being a member of The Works in Somersworth where she made many friends. Eldeane is survived by her loving family: three children, Kenneth Glidden and his wife, Patricia of Boston, Mass., Daniel Glidden and his wife, Kerry of Westford, Mass., and Marcia Sweeney and her husband, Timothy of Pembroke, N.H.; her step-son, Kevin Cassell of Wellsville, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren, Jessica, Michael, Andrew, Jeffrey, Elise, David, Matthew, Benjamin, Caitlyn and Jonathan; her close aunt, Dorothy Littlefield of Dover; her very special companion, Douglas Brooks of Dover; sister-in-law Rosemary Littlefield of Denver, Colo.; and nephews Michael Littlefield of Highland Ranch, Colo., and David Littlefield of Norman, Okla. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Cassell, her brother, Bill Littlefield, and her nephew James Littlefield. SERVICES: Funeral services will held on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015, at 1 p.m. at The First Parish Church Congregational, 218 Central Avenue in Dover with Rev. Michael Bennett officiating with a reception following.
