The 1930 Census shows Clifford L. living with his father, step-mother Pearl, four siblings, and two step-brothers on a farm in Ethel, Macon County, Missouri. Clifford was registered as being nine years old at the time, and attending school. The census indicates that his father, a farmer and Army veteran, was born in Illinois. Next neighbors were Newton W. Bradley, and William H. Turner. Highest grade at school attained by Clifford was H-2 ( Info from 1940 census record) Clifford married Ida Mae England, who was two years older than him, on 5 August 1938 In Macon County, Missouri. He was only 18 years old at the time and needed his father's consent to get married. The marriage was solemnized by Elder L.L. McKinley, a Seventh Day Adventist minister. By 1940 Clifford and his wife Ida Mae were living on a farm in Clarke, Jackson Township (outside Woodburn Town), Iowa. They lived in the household of a John L. Neal, and were registered as being a 'hired hand' and a 'hired girl'. Clifford is recorded as being twenty years of age, and his wife Ida was 22. On 15 September of that same year Clifford and Ida's son was born. They named him Clifford Lewis. Clifford Leroy obtained a B.S. in Business Administration in 1954, from Andrews University in Michigan. In 1962, (the year he became a grandfather) he received a master's degree in education by the University of Nebraska. He served the educational program of the Seventh Day Adventists in several areas, and in different capacities. He was a member of the National Association of Secondary School Principals, and of the elite society Phi Delta Kappa. He was principal of Grand Ledge Academy in Michigan, before accepting the academy board's invitation to come to Cicero, Indiana, to become principal of this Christian educational institution in 1968. By 1972 Clifford Leroy was living in Apopka, Florida. Clifford and Ida's son Clifford Lewis passed away in 1980, aged only forty years. It is not known when the family moved back to Nebraska, but Clifford Leroy's wife Ida died in hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1992. Clifford's second wife was Mary E. Nelson. Date of this marriage is unknown, but she appears as his wife on his death record, along with six stepsons, and one stepdaughter. The death record gives Clifford's occupation as minister (Elder). He died in Brighton, Colorado Place of death: Sterling House, Brighton, Colorado.( Sterling House is an assisted care facility.) Clifford was buried beside his first wife Ida, in Lincoln, Lancaster County, Nebraska. Additional siblings not listed below: Bertha R, and step brothers Lee Roy and Harold N. Blood.
