Stonington, Conn., March 9, 1799; married Jan. 23, 1820, Jenette Patterson, born at Concord, N.H., Nov. 7, 1804, died Jan. 23, 1861; married second, March 19, 1861, "and had two daughters." He was a farmer and minister of the "Christian" denomination. He died at Batavia, Iowa, Aug. 12, 1869. Children: 1) Joseph Patterson, b. at Ontario, N.Y., Sept. 22, 1821; d. unm. The 1850 census appears to show a son, Benjamin P., born about 1839 in New York, not mentioned in the genealogy above. The second wife mentioned above was Mrs. Agnes (McHenry) Rofe, whom he married in Calhoun County March 19, 1861, two months after his wife died. The 1870 census for Jefferson County, Iowa shows her with four children: Genevia (from Agnes' previous marriage), Rose, Thomas and June (aka Fanny, wife of William Barnard).
