Description	:	Funeral services for E.J. Hughes, who died at the Brown hospital in Clarinda, Saturday, May 11, were held Tuesday afternoon at the family residence, conducted by Rev C.K. Shackleford of the Baptist church. Burial was in the Memory cemetery. Elder Jackson Hughes was the son of Nancy Harriett and Jesse Hughes, and was born in Page county, near New Market, Feb 13, 1868. Shackleford of the Baptist church. Burial was in the Memory cemetery. Elder Jackson Hughes was the son of Nancy Harriett and Jesse Hughes, and was born in Page county, near New Market, Feb 13, 1868. He was married to Eva Rosetta Weaver in 1889, and with the exception of five years their married life has been spent on their farm near New Market. Mr Hughes was a member of the Baptist church and always practiced the principles of a christian in his home and daily life. His death was a shock to the family and community as he had been ill only a few days. He is survived by his wife and two children, Carl Hughes and Mrs Vera Zimmerman, and two grandchildren, Kyle Hughes and Rosetta Zimmerman, all of New Market. Also by a brother, Mark Hughes of Fowler, Colo, a sister, Mrs Hattie Hargis of New Market, a niece and nephew, Mrs George Field and Claude Wessell of California, who had made their home in the Hughes home from the time they were small children until grown.
