He was the son of John Lowell Erwin Burr (b. 1888- d. 1945-50) and Floe Mae Day (b. 1900-d. 1929-35). In 1930, Eldon was 10 years old and living in Loveland, Larimer, Colorado. In about 1945, Eldon was a soldier in the United States Navy during World War II. This information can be found on the United States World War II Navy Muster Rolls, 1938-1949. Also, the United States Military Application for military veterans, 1925-1963, lists Eldon Cecil Burr, who died in 1958. Furthermore, the 1940 census of Larimer County, Colorado, lists Eldon living in the household of his father, John Lovell E. Burr, age 52. They rented a place at 1506 Lincoln Avenue in Loveland. Also living there was his grandmother, Mary E. Burr, age 79 & his brother, Jay E. Burr, age 21. He was listed as "E. Ceril" Burr (meaning E. Cecil), age 19. His father was listed as a widower, so Eldon's mother had passed away at a very young age some time before this. His highest grade completed was listed as high school 3rd year. He had not worked in 1939. On June 13, 1946, Eldon married Mary Alice Nelson in Larimer County, Colorado. He was 26 years old. They had two children together, Richard Alan Burr and Steven Jay Burr. They lived in Fort Collins, Larimer, Colorado. On January 2, 1958, Eldon died at the young age of 37 years. He was in Fort Collins at the time. He left behind a wife, Mary, and his two sons, Richard and Steven. He was buried January 1958 at the local cemetery, not far from where he lived, at Grandview Cemetery in Fort Collins. His military gravestone reads, "Eldon Cecil Burr, Colorado, TMS USNR, World War II, June 11, 1920-January 2, 1958". He was a beloved husband and father, and is greatly missed by his family.
