Description	:	Eldon E. Bowman, 59, of St. Edward, was born November 4, 1920 and passed away October 24, 1980 in his home. Funeral services were held Monday, October 27, 1980 at the United Methodist Church in Albion. Rev. Earl Reed officiated the service. Mrs. Robert Nelson and H. Keith Newton were singers accompanied by Mrs. Herbert Knutson. Honorary pallbearers were: Dale Ganz, Ed Hamm, Phil McVey, Jerry Tirtz, Gary Martin, Addis Ward, Gene Martin, L.J. Eldon Emery Bowman was born to Emery and Jessie (Martin) Bowman. He was educated in the Rural Boone County schools and graduated from Albion High School in 1937. He attended Hastings College and graduated from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. He was an active business man and shared in the interest of farming and cattle raising. He had served a number of years in the military service in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1942 to 1946. On April 12, 1948 he joined the Reserves and was commissioned a full colonel at retirement in 1977. On November 20, 19-6, Eldon was married to Dorothy Harris in Lincoln, and they lived in Lincoln until 1974 when they moved to rural St. Edward. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 3 for 13 years, a 32 degree Mason in Lincoln, a member of the Lincoln University Club, and a member of the Albion United Methodist Church. Survivors are: his wife, Dorothy of St. Edward; one step brother, Charles Dyar of Waterloo, Iowa; one step sister; Dorothy (Mrs. Walter) Stolle of Rochester, N.Y.; and other relatives. Preceding him in death were his parents and one step brother, Kenneth Dyar. (Albion News, Albion, Nebraska, Wednesday, October 29, 1980)
