He was the son of: Joseph Albert (Bert) and Hattie Gant Stewart. Eldon was the youngest of seven children; three of whom died in childhood. Eldon grew up in the Siam area. He was baptized at the age of eleven and continued to serve the Lord at the Siam Church of Christ, which his grandfather, Sam Gant, helped build. Read More	* IN LOVING MEMORY OF * Eldon Floyd Stewart was born on Friday; January 26, 1917 in the Bebout community southeast of Siam, Iowa. He was the son of: Joseph Albert (Bert) and Hattie Gant Stewart. Eldon was the youngest of seven children; three of whom died in childhood. Eldon grew up in the Siam area. He was baptized at the age of eleven and continued to serve the Lord at the Siam Church of Christ, which his grandfather, Sam Gant, helped build. Six generations have attended worship services at this church. He graduated high school in 1934 from Hopkins, Missouri. After graduation, he began his farming career, which he continued until retirement. On May 5, 1944, Eldon married Violet Crowell of New Market, who was teaching at the Bebout School near his family farm. They met while he attended his first year of high school in New Market. Later, they were blessed with two children, Roger and Linda. After raising their family in the Siam area, Eldon and Violet moved to a farm southwest of Corning where he remained until an arsonist destroyed his home. In 2005, he moved to Halland Village where he maintained his residency until he entered Good Samaritan Care Facility for the last month of his life. Eldon thoroughly enjoyed his family and friends. He was known for his love of writing and correspondence. Violet and Eldon enjoyed traveling, flowers, and the beauty of God's creation. He was known for seeing the beauty in others and enjoying even the little things in life. Eldon firmly believed the only way one could ever enter the gates of Heaven would be because of the grace he or she had been given by Jesus Christ. Eldon Floyd Stewart, age 93, passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at Good Samaritan Care Center in Red Oak; Montgomery County, Iowa. Those left to mourn his passing are: His son: Roger (Susan) Stewart of Stanton, Iowa and his daughter: Linda Volkmar of Santa Monica, California. Roger and Susan's daughters are: Shauna (Darin) Seaman of Omaha, Nebraska. Shalée (Josh) Boyles of Waterloo, Iowa. ShaRee (Don) Schnitker of Norwalk, Iowa. Linda's children are: Michelle (Sean) Sahlstrom of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Aaron (Becca) Volkmar of Boone, Iowa. Nathan Volkmar of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Also nine great-grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends. Preceding Eldon in death were his devoted wife: Violet. His parents: Bert and Hattie Stewart. His brothers: Samuel and LeRoy. His sisters: Liefa Stewart, Anna Cooper, Almiria Renfro, and Bessie Lucas Maudlin Weddle. Also one granddaughter: Kimberlea Lynn Volkmar. May they rest in peace. May God bless her memory and give strength to those who mourn. Visitation will be from: 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday; May 6, 2010 at the funeral home. Funeral services will begin at: 10:30 a.m. on Friday; May 7, 2010 at the Ritchie Funeral Home in Clarinda, Iowa. Interment will be at the Maple Grove aka Guss Cemetery in Gus; Taylor County, Iowa. Memorials in Eldon's honor may be directed to the Open Door Mission. The Ritchie Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
