Description	:	Eldon J. "Mike" Schuknecht, 80, of Beatrice passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday morning, Dec. 27, 2011. He was born in Seward to John Charles and Nellie Mae (Morris) Schuknecht on May 24, 1931, and graduated from Seward High School. He attended college for one year and then served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1949 until 1954. "Mike" Schuknecht, 80, of Beatrice passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday morning, Dec. 27, 2011. He was born in Seward to John Charles and Nellie Mae (Morris) Schuknecht on May 24, 1931, and graduated from Seward High School. He attended college for one year and then served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1949 until 1954. He worked for the Gas Company and retired from Minnegasco as CIS Supervisor in Beatrice after 41 years of service. He was united in marriage to Patricia Hartman on Feb. 18, 1957, and to this union three children were born. He was a member of the Bitting-Norman Post 27 of the American Legion and Geddes-Thober Post 1077 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, both of Beatrice. He was interested in flying and was a pilot of single engine planes. He loved to cook out for his family and was a devout Green Bay Packer and Husker fan. He was also a doting grandfather and great-grandfather. Mike is survived by his wife, Patricia of Beatrice; two daughters, Brenda Claassen and husband Larry of Lincoln and Sheila and husband Curtis of rural Lincoln; one son, Jeffery Schuknecht of Beatrice; one granddaughter, Whitney Holbert and husband Andrew of Lincoln; one great-granddaughter, Dani Mae; one great-grandson, Dashton John; one niece, Maureen Kelley of Atlanta, Ga.; one nephew, Jon Schuknecht and wife Barb of Omaha. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Charles and Nellie Mae (Morris) Schuknecht; one brother, Maurice Charles Schuknecht and spouse, Rosalind (Pratt) Schuknecht. Private graveside services will be Thursday, Dec. 29, at the Greenwood Cemetery of Seward. Military graveside honors will be conducted. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Veterans Memorial Park of Beatrice. There will be no viewing. A guest book will be available at the Fox Funeral Home from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Wednesday. A guest book for signatures and messages of condolence is available online at www.foxfuneralhome.net. Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice is in charge of the arrangements.
