Kruckenberg ( March 4, 1924 - October 30, 2001 ) "A memorial service for Eldor (Al) Kruckenberg, a long-time resident of Odessa, was held Saturday, Nov 3, at Christ Lutheran Church in Odessa. Mr Kruckenberg, who was 77 years old, died Tuesday, Oct 30, 2001, in Odessa. He was born on March 4, 1924, in Manhaven, ND, the son of Wilhelm and Emma (Boeckle) Kruckenberg. He attended school in Beulah, ND, and then went to welding school in MN. He moved to Seattle and worked at the shipyards from 1941-1943, until he joined the US Marine Corps in Sept 1943.... Mr Kruckenberg, who was 77 years old, died Tuesday, Oct 30, 2001, in Odessa. He was born on March 4, 1924, in Manhaven, ND, the son of Wilhelm and Emma (Boeckle) Kruckenberg. He attended school in Beulah, ND, and then went to welding school in MN. He moved to Seattle and worked at the shipyards from 1941-1943, until he joined the US Marine Corps in Sept 1943. He was discharged July 11, 1946 and then worked as a carpenter in California for several years. Eldor married Ruth Miller on Sept 29, 1947. Two years later they moved to Odessa, where he worked for Wenz Tractor until the company was sold. He then went to work for Western States as a welder and parts manager until his retirement in 1981. Eldor had many hobbies which he enjoyed after his retirement. He liked to fish and travel in the motor home. He was also skilled at and enjoyed his fabrication work in his home shop. He and his wife continued to enjoy life in Odessa until the time of his death. He is survived by his wife Ruth, at the home; one son, Russel Kruckenberg and his wife Janet, of Spokane, and 3 grandchildren: Sean Kory and Karla. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Rick, in 1992; one brother, and two sisters. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Odessa and a former member of the Odessa VFW. Burial at Odessa Cemetery preceded the memorial service. Pastor Robert Edwards officiated. Strate Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements." (Odessa Record: 11-08-2001)
