Description	:	Eleanor A. Lair 97, of Towanda, KS formerly of Pittsburg, died 11:45am Tuesday October 1, 2013 at Avita Reeds Cove Nursing Facility in Wichita following an illness. She was born September 25, 1916 near Sherwin Junction, KS the daughter of Oliver A. and Clara M. (Shutt) Mead. She moved from Kansas to Missouri at age 5; then to Pittsburg at age 11 where she resided until October 1999 when she moved to Towanda to be closer to her daughter. Lair 97, of Towanda, KS formerly of Pittsburg, died 11:45am Tuesday October 1, 2013 at Avita Reeds Cove Nursing Facility in Wichita following an illness. She was born September 25, 1916 near Sherwin Junction, KS the daughter of Oliver A. and Clara M. (Shutt) Mead. She moved from Kansas to Missouri at age 5; then to Pittsburg at age 11 where she resided until October 1999 when she moved to Towanda to be closer to her daughter. On January 4, 1936 she was united in marriage to Archie O. Lair in Lamar, Missouri; he preceded her in death on February 11, 2000. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of God on 13th and Tucker where she was president of the Willing Workers. She was also active in the PTA. Survivors include two daughters: Janice Dorothy (Jerry) McCord of North Las Vegas, NV and Carolyn Sue (David) Coble of Towanda, KS; two brothers: Harold L. (Margaret) Mead of Grandview, MO and Charles D. (Lois) Mead of Lawrence, KS Five grandchildren: Scott Coble, Shawn (Leianna)Coble, Sherri Coble, Suzanne Coble and Stephanie (Paul) Yegge; 10 great-grandchildren: Shaun Coble, Ciara Coble, Riley Coble, Blake Coble-Bilson, Shaylee McCord, Devin Yegge, Mikayla Yegge, Jared Coble, Bryan West, Christopher (Kitra) West and Tiffany (Joey) Simpson; along with six great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Robert Lair, three brothers: Howard, Paul and Joe Mead, three sisters: Ada Lavon Mead, Mary Mead and Dorothy Bolte, a granddaughter Jana Sue McCord and a great granddaughter Nicole Yegge. Celebration of life services will be 11 am, Saturday, October 5, 2013 at the Church of God at 13th and Tucker with Pastors Daryl Gaddy, Gene Kaufman and Mark Smithson officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Olive Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg from 7-8 pm Friday evening. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com. Memorials may be made to the Church of God and/or the Lighthouse Tabernacle; these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home. Services by the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home of Pittsburg, KS.
