Description	:	Eleanor D. Eggers, age 86 of Elwood, died July 22, 2013 at the Lexington Regional Health Center in Lexington. Services will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Elwood with Pastor Phyllis Dunlop officiating. Burial will be in the Elwood Cemetery. Eleanor Dorothy Eggers was born Feb. 5, 1927 to John and Leona Klein Dunkhas at Hollinger. Her mother died when she was two weeks old, and as a result, she lived with her grandparents, Dick and Louise Dunkhas for much of her childhood and adolescent life. Eleanor attended school in Stanford. Following her schooling, Eleanor spent six months in California. Upon her return, she worked as a nurse's aide in Omaha at a home for unwed mothers and the elderly. Eleanor also worked in Seward and at the Brewster Hospital in Holdrege. On Sept. 6, 1954, Eleanor married Richard "Dick" Eggers at Lincoln. Their union was blessed with two children, Scott and Lisa. Eleanor worked as a nurse's aide for 25 years at Elwood Care Center and two years as laundry aide. Mr. Eggers died in 1980. After many years of caring for others at the Elwood Care Center, Eleanor became a resident herself in July of 2010. Eleanor was a member of First Christian Church of Elwood. She enjoyed traveling to California and taking bus tours to Nevada; Branson, Mo., and Wisconsin. She also enjoyed reading, listening to western music, watching baseball and keeping up with what was going on in Elwood. Survivors include her daughter, Lisa (Terry) Wood of Miami, Okla.; son, Scott (Kim) Eggers of Elwood; four grandchildren, Teresa Hart and Charlotte Wood along with Adrian and Anna Eggers and four great-grandchildren, Austin Hart, Lexi Martin, Kayleigh Hart and Gavin Hart. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Richard in 1980, and her parents. Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad is in charge of arrangements. Published Lexington Star Herald July 24, 2013
