Description	:	On July 7, 2012, Eleanor "Elly" Hogan got her final wish and was reunited with the love of her life, Bob. Elly was born at home March 1, 1924, to Ira and Anna Glynn in Minneapolis, MN, during a snowstorm. The doctor arrived in a onehorse sleigh. (Trust me, she told me to write that). Elly joined the Marine Corps at the age... Read More	On July 7, 2012, Eleanor "Elly" Hogan got her final wish and was reunited with the love of her life, Bob. Elly was born at home March 1, 1924, to Ira and Anna Glynn in Minneapolis, MN, during a snowstorm. The doctor arrived in a onehorse sleigh. Little did he know he was delivering a woman who could withstand much more than a winter storm. She was a strong and proud lady, "with a quick wit, a sharp tongue and a mind of her own." (Trust me, she told me to write that). Elly joined the Marine Corps at the age of 20 and was sent to boot camp at Camp Lejeune, NC. She was stationed at El Toro Marine base in CA as a supply clerk. It was there that a young marine named Bob Hogan took a fancy to the beautiful, long legged "BAM" and, after one blind date, he told her he was going to marry her. Mom wasn't convinced. But, after knowing each other for only six weeks, they married, and spent the next 60 years together, creating a strong and loving family. The last six years were a struggle because she missed Dad so much and she couldn't stand to be without him. During their marriage they lived in Minneapolis, MN, and Anaconda, MT before settling in Richland, WA, where they raised their seven children. Pat (Sandy), Mike (Lori), Barb (Dan) Ham, Brian John (Rae), Jim (Sue), Shannon (Randy) Hickman and Heidi (John) Gottschalk. Mom had a fabulous sense of humor and instilled it in all her kids. Her greatest joys were her children and grand/great-grandchildren. She was a terrific grandmother, spending many hours "babysitting," which meant she was telling stories, singing songs she made up for the kids, giving them her famous back scratches, teaching them her famous finger wave, and loving them all so much. Her special gift was telling stories, for which she had a knack for embellishment, but her kids always seemed to believe her. Whether it was a story about John Glynn the astronaut, waiting on the banshees to arrive, leprechauns jumping out of the garden, or running over the Easter bunny, we'd hang on every word. Thank you for giving us such a gift and spending so much time making so many ordinary days fun. Mom loved watching Gonzaga basketball and was an avid Mariners fan, regularly coaching them from her couch! Elly was a member of Christ the King Parish, attending daily mass and serving as a Eucharistic minister over the years. Mom you are missed. Your love, strength, and support can never be replaced, but we know you're finally at peace. You raised a great family and we will keep you in our hearts, re-tell your stories, sing your songs, and pass on your legacy to all our families, so that they may know you too. She is survived by her seven children; brothers, Tom (Barbara) Glynn, and Jack (Donna) Glynn; her grandchildren, Ryan (Elise) Hogan, Chris (Bridget Mertens) Hogan, Holly Hogan, Erica (Chris) Snell, Josh Hogan, Angela (Sean) Gehlen, Ian Hogan, Molly (Erik) Formo, Jennifer (Eric) Christian, Tessa Hogan, and Michelle and Garrett Gottschalk. She is also survived by her son from another mother, Don Twitty, and 13 great-grandchildren with one on the way. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her brother James Glynn, granddaughter Mandy, daughter-in-law Lisa (Boak) Hogan, #1 son-in-law Danny Ham, and great-grandson Grady. Those babies are in your care mom, give them all our love. "Bye for now." Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, July 18, 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, Richland WA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Catholic Family & Child Services, (2130 Van Giesen, Richland, WA 99354) or to a favorite charity.
