Description	:	Eleanor Josephine Vick was born Nov. 24, 1918 to Herfred and Mary (Hellestvedt Thorson) Vick in Glenwood Township, the middle child in a family of seven children. She was baptized and confirmed at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church. Eleanor Vick attended the Lee School in Glenwood Township and after she graduated from the eighth grade, she went to work as a hired girl. She married Walter David Womeldorf March 25, 1937 at the A.C. Johnson home in Decorah. To this union three sons were born: James Curtis, Wayne Roger and Dean Alan. She was baptized and confirmed at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church. Eleanor Vick attended the Lee School in Glenwood Township and after she graduated from the eighth grade, she went to work as a hired girl. She married Walter David Womeldorf March 25, 1937 at the A.C. Johnson home in Decorah. To this union three sons were born: James Curtis, Wayne Roger and Dean Alan. Walter and Eleanor Womeldorf farmed just south of Decorah for many years. Eleanor Womeldorf inherited her father's love of music and sang with the Rural Women's Chorus and the sextet at Decorah Lutheran Church. Family and friends were very important to them and as active members of Decorah Lutheran Church shared their gifts and faith with many others. They retired from farming in 1980 and built a new home on a parcel of their farm. July 26, 1985, Walter Womeldorf passed away from cancer. In later years, Eleanor Womeldorf took up the hobby of quilting, having made hand stitched and appliquéd quilts for each of her sons and grandchildren. Eleanor Womeldorf was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Walter Womeldorf; daughter-in-law Ruth (Sieverding) Womeldorf, brothers Norman Vick and Vernon Vick; sisters Hilda Jevne, Gladys Pecinovsky and Cora Ostrander; five brothers-in-law: Roger Womeldorf, Truman Engen, Emil Jevne, Bennie Boe and Gordon Ostrander and four nephews.
