As a child she moved with her family to Brandt, SD and later to Lennox, SD. Eleanor was united in marriage with Benjamin Ohmer Peterson in Sioux Falls, SD on April 21, 1944. The couple lived in Brookings and Huron, SD before settling in Sioux Falls. Bridge, Mah Jongg and bowling were among Eleanor's favorite pastimes. Rosemaling provided her with endless hours of pleasure and accomplishment. Many enjoyable hours were spent at the Center for Active Generations. Membership at the Moose Lodge, VFW Auxiliary and Sons of Norway provided her with more comradery and interest. In addition, she was a member of East Side Lutheran Church. Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Russell Peterson and his wife, Anita, Mesa, AZ, Cheryl Halsey and her husband, James, Springfield, SD; her grandchildren, Stephen Peterson and his wife, Brittiney, Jeffrey Peterson, April Halsey, Travis Halsey; her great-grandsons, Logan and Ethan Peterson; a beloved niece, Dianne Carver, Lake Elsinor, CA; four brothers, Lynn Carver and his wife, Evelyn, Lacey, WA, Don Carver and his wife, Patricia, Redding, CA, Gail Carver and his wife, Roberta, of Georgia, Ron Carver and his wife, Marcia, Volga, SD; and a host of other relatives and friends. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin, on November 17, 1985; her parents; two brothers, Lyle and George Carver; and two sisters, Elaine Poulson and Doris Klinghagen. Relatives and friends were invited to gather with the family for lunch and fellowship at East Side Lutheran Church which immediately followed the funeral service and prior to leaving for the committal service.
