Description	:	Eleanor L. Baldwin, 92, of Columbus, died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at the Golden LivingCenter in Columbus. The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus with Revs. Patrick Sparling and Kurt Ebert officiating. Interment will be in the Columbus Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at the Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue 9:30 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Eleanor Baldwin was born Oct. 21 1919, in Columbus to Louis and Alma (Garms) Wurdeman. She attended Immanuel Lutheran Grade School and graduated from Kramer High School in 1937. Eleanor was united in marriage to Darrel Baldwin at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Oct. 15, 1942. Eleanor briefly worked at First National Bank, then joined Columbus Bank as a book keeper, then later becoming a teller, working there for 20 years, retiring in 1984. Eleanor was a life-long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Eleanor was very active in the church, volunteering many hours at the church office helping out in a variety of ways. Eleanor also belonged to the Mission Sowers and served on the Evangelism board. Eleanor and Darrel enjoyed traveling, especially to visit their children who lived out-of-state. Eleanor also enjoyed reading, bowling and growing a large flower and vegetable garden, which she always shared with family, neighbors and friends. Eleanor and Darrel delivered meals-on-wheels and also did many other kind acts for which they were awarded the Ak-Sar-Ben "Good Neighbor" award. Eleanor was a very loving and devoted wife and mother. She was a very humble person, always putting others before herself. In 2001, Eleanor received the "Mother of the Year Award." Eleanor spread her kindness to others throughout her life and will be sorely missed. Eleanor is survived by: son: Dr. John (Janis) Baldwin, of Bellevue, Wash.; daughter: Anne (Gene) Burton, of Fullerton; son: Kenneth (Karen) Baldwin, of Omaha; daughter: Connie (Peter) White, of Salt Lake City, Utah; son: Jim (Jere) Baldwin, of Columbus; daughter: Betty (Bob) Earley, of Columbus; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister: Loreen Sheridan, of Ontario, Canada; brother: Robert (Charlotte) Wurdeman, of Beach Park, Ill.; sister-in-law: Dottie Wurdeman, of Lynn, Mass.; Darrlel's sister: Edith (Jerry) Marlatt, of Kearney; and her loving companion, KiKi. Eleanor was preceded in death by: parents: Louis and Alma Wurdeman; husband: Darrel Baldwin; son: Steven Baldwin; brother: Edgar Wurdeman; brother: Lester Wurdeman; and sister-in-law: Barbara Wurdeman.
