Memorial services were 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute, with Pastor Ed Brandt officiating. Burial was in St. Clair Cemetery at Ute. Eleanor "Sue" Lee Friedrichsen was born April 3, 1939, at Sioux City, the daughter of Paul and Dorothy (Sturgeon) Agee. She graduated from Central High School in Sioux City with the class of 1958. She then worked at I.P.S., where she met Roger Friedrichsen. They were married June 23, 1962, at Riverside Lutheran Church in Sioux City. They first lived at Moville, Iowa, and then lived one year at Inwood, Iowa, as Roger advanced his career in education. From there they moved to Charter Oak, Ute, and Moorhead, Iowa, where they lived on an acreage for eight years. They then moved back to Ute, where Sue worked as city clerk for 23 years. Roger died Oct. 10, 1999. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute and the Ladies Aid. Sue found satisfaction in raising chickens and was a cat lover. She started the Sturgeon Cousins Family Reunion which has become an annual event. She was active in the Republican Party, the Red Hat Society and the American Legion Auxiliary. She also served her community on the Ute Planning and Zoning Committee and the Charter Oak-Ute Education Foundation. Sue was a truly good friend to a lot of people, often demonstrating her sincere generosity. Those left to cherish their memories of Sue include a son, Alex and his wife, Michele Friedrichsen, of Nashville, Tenn.; a daughter and her husband, Jamie and David Smith of Arlington, Neb.; two grandchildren, Tanner and Riley Smith; a brother and his wife, Bob and Leila Agee of Sioux City; along with other family members and a wide circle of friends. Along with her husband, Sue was preceded in death by her parents; and a set of twin sisters.
