Description	:	PLEASANTON — Eleanor P. Schmidt, 94, of Pleasanton died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017, at her home in rural Pleasanton. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church in Pleasanton with the Rev. Dean Hanson officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Oak Ridge Cemetery near Dannebrog. Eleanor was born on Aug. 25, 1922, in Dannebrog to Albert and Ida (Kaiser) Steinke. She graduated from St. Paul High School in 1939 and then went on to teach at rural schools in Howard County for the next three years. She married Robert F. Schmidt on Oct. 22, 1942, in Grand Island and continued to teach for two more years. She then took a position as a nursing aide at the tuberculosis hospital in Kearney and later worked as a cook at the Boys Training School. She later worked as a cook at Zion Lutheran for nine years and then as a part-time cook at Homestead House for two years. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Pleasanton. Eleanor enjoyed cooking, reading and embroidery. Surviving relatives include her daughters and sons-in-law, Sally and Gene Mueller of Loveland, Colo., Susan and Ira Baker of Pleasanton and Patricia Koch of Milwaukee; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; brother, Clifford Steinke; and sisters, Mildred Lauritsen and Rachel Lauritsen.
