Rt. Rev. Msgr. Kopecky officiated at the double ring ceremony and the Nuptial High Mass which followed. Lighted candles and large yellow chrysanthemums decorated the altar. The school choir sang the "Ave Maria" at the offetory (sic). Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore traditional white slipper satin gown. The marquisette yoke was trimmed in Chantilly lace. The long full sleeves tapered into a point at the wrist. Tiny satin covered buttons decorated the back of the bodice and cascades of Chantily (sic) edged the peplum which came to a point at the back center of the aisle-wide train. Her fingertip veil edged in delicate Alecon lace fell from a scaloped (sic) crown of tiny seed pears. Her bouquet or large white mums and pale pink sweetheart roses encircled a corsage of pink roses. The bride chose as her attendants Miss Loraine Drudik, her cousin, Miss Marita Buescher and Dorothy Karmazin, friends of the couple, who wore identical taffeta gowns. The bodice was designed with k deep yoke of marquisette framed with tiers of taffeta to create the off-shoulder effect and was completed with a side peplum of triple-tiered taffet (sic). The full skirt was gathered at the back to form a bustle effect/ Misses Drudik and Buescher wore sea-green gowns with matching hats and carried a shower bouquet of yellow mums, while Miss Karmazin wore a gown and hat of dusty rose and carried white mums. The groom chose Leonard Karmazin, brother of the bride, Bernard Drudik, cousin of the bride, and Jerome Mazour, their friend, as his attendants. All wore dark business suits with white carnation boutonnires (sic). Clarence Karmazin, Harold Faimon, Reynold Kohmetscher and Raymond Rempe served as ushers. Both the mother of the bride and groom wore dark brown dressed and a corsage of white carnations. A 3-course dinner was served to 135 guests in the church dining hall which was decorated with pink, green and white streamers. Bells and a miniature bride and groom topped the 3-tiered heart-shaped wedding cake which was placed on a large mirror in the center of the bride's table and was surrounded by American Beauty roses and primrose. Mrs. Reynold Kohmetscher was in charge of the guest book, while Mrs. Glenn Theer took care of the gift table. This was also the 81st birthday of the bride's grandmother who was presented with a corsage of white carnations. A lovely decorated cake was placed at her dinner plate. The bride is a graduate of Lawrence high school while the groom is a veteran of 22 months service in the U S Infantry having served in the European thettre (sic) of war. Out of town guests included: Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Pohlmeier and family, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Bieriger and Miss Joan Yap, ail of Hastings; Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Schreiner and family of Nebr. City, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Grossman, Edgar; Mrs. Mary Theer, Geneva; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Theer and daughters, Bruning, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rempe and family, Superior, Mr. and Mrs. Art Rempe, Eugene Spade of Bostwick. A large number of relaties (sic) and friends attended the dance given in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Theer. At present the couple is at home on a farm east of Lawrence. ===================== The Nuckolls County Locomotive-Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, October 19, 2017; pg. 16 Eleanor Rose "Babe" Theer of Lawrence was born January 26, 1925 to Thomas S. and Mary F. (Faimon) Karmazin on the family farm northwest of Lawrence, Nebraska. She departed this life on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings at age 92. She started her formal education at country school then attended Sacred Heart Elementary and Lawrence High School, graduating in 1942. After graduation, she taught at a country school and traveled to Washington to pick apples. On October 12, 1948, she married Gilbert H. Theer at Sacred Heart Church. They lived on a farm southwest of Lawrence until 1955 when they moved to Gilbert's family farm east of Lawrence. In 1989, they moved into Lawrence. The marriage was blessed with seven children. She enjoyed her life as a farmer's wife and mother. Eleanor believed in keeping her hands and mind busy and did so by gardening, quilting, crocheting, embroidering, baking, doing puzzles and reading. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and Altar Society and served as funeral dinner chairman for several years. After moving from the farm to town, Eleanor was a devoted volunteer at Sacred Heart School and quilter at Sacred Heart Sewing Circle. Eleanor had many of her own words of wisdom (and one-liners) but also posted many inspirational sayings from others in her home. She truly lived by this one from Forest E. Witcraft: "A hundred years from now, it will not matter what sort of house I lived in, what my bank account was, or what kind of car I drove, but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child." She is survived by her children Eugene (Jeanette) of Lincoln; Joe (Kay) of Lawrence; Carol (Tim) Davenport of Plattsmouth; John, Robert (Brenda), Jim (Brenda) and Mary (Bernard) Kathman all of Lawrence; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Norma Karmazin and Marita Karmazin Lukasek; nieces and nephews, cousins and numerous others that lovingly called her Grandma. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers George, Clarence and Leonard; sister-in-law Pat Karmazin and twin great-granddaughters. Rosary was held Tuesday, October 17, 2017 and Mass of Christian Burial was on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, both at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lawrence, Nebraska with Father Thomas Schultes and Monsignor Ivan Vap officiating. Burial was in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Lawrence, Nebraska. Memorials can be directed to the Lawrence Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad or Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Merten-Butler Mortuary, Blue Hill, Nebraska was in charge of arrangements.
