Page 7~B+ ELEANOR SIGLIN FILEAN . . .* Des Moines, Iowa . . .+ ELEANOR {SIGLIN} FILEAN ~Passed away on May 16 at her home, Prime Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Des Moines, Iowa. . .* ELEANOR was born on January 26, 1902 in rural Boone County, the eldest of nine children of Jacob and Mary Florence {BUSH} SIGLIN . . .At age three ELEANOR accompanied her parents and younger brother during a two year period when they homesteaded a farm near Gregory, South Dakota. . .* ELEANOR attended schools in Boone and Dallas Counties, Iowa and graduated from Woodward High School in Woodward, Iowa. . .* ELEANOR attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and taught in rural schools in Boone and Dallas Counties and in the Woodward and Perry, Iowa school systems. . .* In 1936 ELEANOR married Arthur Amel FILEAN and moved to Des Moines where she lived until her death. . .* * ELEANOR is survived by their two sons and daughters-in-law, Arthur and Gloria Filean of Des Moines, Iowa and Paul and Judy Filean of West Des Moines,Iowa; five grandchildren, Graham (Julie), Julie (Steve Dotson), Erik (Laura), Andrew (Sandra) and Chad (Cynthia); six great-grandchildren, Olivia, Samuel, Jay, Jacob, Jackson and Cecelia; two sisters, Mary Davisson of Perry, Iowa and Alice Jane Roberts of Valparaiso, Indiana; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. . .* After raising her family ELEANOR worked for many years at Younkers. A lifelong passion was genealogical research related to her family, eventually leading to a volume of family history published in 1970 and continually updated throughout the years. . .* Per Eleanor's request her body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2010, at 11 a.m., at Windsor Presbyterian Church, 6301 University Avenue in Des Moines, Iowa, followed by a committal service at the WOODWARD CEMETERY, in Woodward, Dallas County,Iowa at 2 p.m. . . .* The family suggests that any memorials be made to Windsor Presbyterian Church, the University of Northern Iowa Foundation, the Iowa Public Television Foundation or any organization of the donor's choice. ..======= + + + ======= Read less
