Description	:	Eleanor S. Thomas Eleanor Smith Thomas, 69, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, at home. She was born Nov. 12, 1930, in Georgetown, a daughter of the late John Benjamin and Ellen Timmons Smith. She was the widow of Sidney Budd Thomas, who died in 1998. She graduated from Andrews High School and was employed with the U.S. Postal Service in Georgetown and Riegelwood for 30 years before she retired. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was the widow of Sidney Budd Thomas, who died in 1998. She graduated from Andrews High School and was employed with the U.S. Postal Service in Georgetown and Riegelwood for 30 years before she retired. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, Sidney Budd Thomas Jr. and his wife, Willie; two daughters, Ellen Faye Picarella and her husband, Michael G. Picarella and Terry Thomas Welch; three grandchildren, Michael Brian Picarella, Christopher Allen Picarella and Tiffany Ann Welch Freeman, all of Riegelwood; a great-grandson, Justin Tyler Picarella of Burgaw, N.C.; and a brother, B.B. Smith of Georgetown. A graveside service will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Sampit United Methodist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Kenneth B. Buckingham will officiate. Memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 116, Riegelwood, NC 28456. Mayer Funeral Home of Georgetown is in charge.
