Burial followed in Fillmore Cemetery with Armstrong Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. She died Thursday, November 18, 1993 at Hillcrest Manor in Enderlin. Eleanor Svare was born August 9, 1902 in Pelican Rapids, MN to Thor and Anne Marie Svare. In 1916, when Eleanor was not quite 14 years old, her mother died. She raised her six younger brothers and sisters; the youngest was 6 months old. Eleanor later became a telephone operator. She worked in the Barnesville, MN area and eventually went to Minneapolis-St. Paul where she met Alfred Brown. Alfred worked as a street car operator. After their marriage they moved to rural Nome. They farmed in Preston Township raising registered Hereford and White Holland turkeys. In 1976 they moved to Lisbon where they lived until 1991. Alfred died June 10, 1991. Survivors include two daughters, Gwen (Clint) Hill, Alexandria, VA, and Gloria (David) Grant, Springfield, VA; and one sister, charlotte Bjornson, Fargo, ND; three grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, and three sisters. Pallbearers were Gerald Marcks, Robert Reinke, Arlyn Strand, Roy Randall, Hanley Aamot, Odell Aamot. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Tweet, Steve Tweet, Terry Tweet, Brad Bjornson, Mike Bjornson, Mark Bjornson. Organist was Shirley Hanson and soloist was Joan Montgomery.
