| Description | : | The story I recall is that when the casket of John Grieve was opened in Harvey after John died of disease in St. Louis in 1859, whatever he had infected several members of the family many of whom died in 1860 including four of William and Eleanor's kids as well as the sons of William Jr. It is extremely poignant to me that here was an old farmer, immigrant from Northumberland with all the hopes of an immigrant, faced in his advancing years with the death of many of his kids as well as the prospect of raising orphans.
