Eleanore was born February 1, 1915 at Manteca, Calif. Her father, Albert Glass, was a farmer and carpenter. Her mother, Marion Ordway Glass was a telegrapher and station agent for the railroad when they met in Nelson, Calif. Both families had been early settlers in California. She had one brother, five years older. The family returned to Butte County later in 1915 and to the Glass family ranch at Nelson. She attended school at Nelson and Durham, graduating from Durham High School in 1932. Eleanore attended Chico State College in 1932-33, majoring in art. In the spring of that year she met her future husband, Bruno Droz, who with his mother, ran a dairy at Vina. They were married October 2, 1933 in Reno, Nevada. They were married for 54 years. In 1943, the family moved to Chico where they lived the rest of their lives. Bruno was in the landleveling business and Eleanore raised the family. She enjoyed painting, doing needle work of all kinds, refinishing furniture and gardening. She was an accomplished seamstress, sang and played the piano well, and she enjoyed reading and playing cards with friends. For nearly 40 years, Eleanore researched her family history. They enjoyed travel in their travel trailer and took trips to the East Coast, Mexico, Lake Almanor and the Fort Bragg area. Eleanore was active in several organizations: Junior Art Club (later Junior Women's Club), Chico Women's Club, Quota Club, Elk's Ladies and Vina Community Club. She belonged to the Creative Art Center (now Chico Art Center). She was a member of Chico Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, Native Daughters of the Golden West Annie K. Bidwell Parlor #168, Daughters of the War of 1812, Sons and Daughters of the First Settlers of Newbury, Mass., and her dearly loved Thursday Pinochle group. Eleanore is survived by three daughters and their husbands, all of Chico: Nancy Young Jensen and husband Ken, Jacqueline Small and husband Garry, Geraldine Paiva and husband Jim; five granddaughters; Kari Mais and husband Bert of Florence, Ore., Julie Small and Lynn McCormack and husband Scott, all of Chico, Katy Wilkerson and husband Steve of Palm Springs, Calif., and Johanna Young and husband Fred Bay of Sunnyvale, Calif.; two grandsons: James Paiva, Jr. and Dan Paiva and wife Shelly of Chico; one great-granddaughter; seven great-grandsons; also a niece, Barbara Glass of Sacramento; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Glass of South Lake Tahoe; and many cousins and friends of all ages. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bruno Droz in 1987 and her brother, A.O. "Bunch" Glass in 1970. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.
