Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Hinton, Iowa. Reverend Steven Stoll will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2016, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., all at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars. Read More	Elfrieda Ludwig, 80, of Merrill, Iowa passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Whispering Creek Senior Living in Sioux City, Iowa. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Hinton, Iowa. Reverend Steven Stoll will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the church. Elfrieda Carol Aljets was born December 13, 1935 in Moro, IL, the daughter of Martin and Evelyn (Lagemann) Aljets. She attended country school in Illinois and later graduated from high school in Edwardsville, IL. Following high school, she attended the Lutheran School of Nursing in Sioux City, Iowa. Following her graduation in 1956, she began working as a nurse in Sioux City. While attending nursing school in Sioux City, she met her future husband, Melvin Ludwig. They were united in marriage on January 25, 1958 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Elfrieda and Melvin made their home in rural Plymouth County, where they farmed and raised livestock. Early on in their marriage, Elfrieda was a homemaker for her family. She also owned and operated an upholstery business out of her home. After their children were grown, she went to work outside of the home for various businesses in Sioux City, including MCI, Federal Courthouse, Professional Alterations, and Meals on Wheels until retiring due to her health. Melvin passed away May 20, 2008. Elfrieda was a member and active volunteer for Trinity Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Casper American Legion Auxiliary Post 477 in Hinton and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Elfrieda loved to sew, bake, and tend to her garden. But most of all, she loved the time spent with family, especially her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her 5 children: Glenn (Karen) Ludwig of Merrill, IA and their children: Camelle, Nicole, Kaylee, and Derek; Ken (Charlene) Ludwig of Overland Park, KS, and their children: Kaylyn and Rebecca; Robert (Kathy) Ludwig of Moville, IA and their son: Keaton; Denise (Kevin) Honts of Des Moines, IA, and their children: Jonathan and Joshua; and Marcia Ludwig (Nick Schwidder) of Hazelwood, MO; and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin; a brother: Wilfred Aljets; and a sister: Leona Aljets. [Courtesy: Carlsen Funeral Homes]
