Description	:	Elfrieda L. Engelbart, age 79, died Friday October 13th with her family by her side, from complications of a stroke. Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Monday, October 16, 2006 at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church by Rev. Eugene Schipper. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, Sunday evening at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa and one hour before services at the church. Interment will be at a later date. She is also survived by two sisters, Ernestine Collins of Sioux City and Jenny Simpson of Morristown, Tennessee; nineteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Fred and Carsten Thomsen and two sisters, Erna Haag and Marie Ireland. Elfrieda was born June 23rd, 1927 in Sioux City, Iowa. She was the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Sands) Thomsen. In the early 1940s she moved to rural Anamosa to live with her sister, Marie Ireland. She attended Anamosa High School. On February 18, 1946 she was united in marriage with Marvin George Engelbart at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church in Monticello. They raised their four sons and farmed for 35 years near Amber. They divorced in 1981. Elfrieda then lived in Anamosa. Due to health problems, she moved to Edinburgh Manor at Scotch Grove in 1984 and more recently was a resident at Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion. Elfrieda was a member of Wayne Zion Lutheran Church and for many years was a member of the rural neighborhood club, The Domestic Engineers. As a member , she enjoyed sharing time with other farm wives in her area. Elfrieda was a homemaker and an excellent cook and gardener. For a brief period she worked at Rockwell-Collins. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed her sons sports and FFA activities over the years and later, her grandchildrens various activities as well. She loved to go fishing and play cards with family and friends. In recent years, she looked forward to local outings and always enjoyed spending time with her family. The holidays, family birthday celebrations and gatherings for important occasions were always special times and gave Elfrieda and her family many warm memories. Sincere thanks to those who cared for Elfrieda at Edinburgh Manor, Willow Gardens and St. Lukes Hospital and to Doctors Wilkinson and Barnett and St. Lukes Hospice for their caring support. Special thanks to the Amberettes and Morley Womens Club for the Christmas gifts over the years and her birthday club- Larry, Dorothy, Galen, Keith, Arlene and Clara who always helped make that day special for her. Elfrieda was a kind and gentle person who will be very missed by her family and friends but will always be in our hearts and memories. A memorial fund has been established. Goettsch Funeral Home
