Freeman, 81, Yates Center, died Friday, Sept. 29, at a Yates Center nursing home. Mr. Freeman was a carpenter in Coffey and Woodson counties until he retired four years ago. He was born May 29, 1903, at Le Roy, the son of Joseph B. and Sarah Griffin Freeman. Mr. Freeman was a member of the First Christian Church at Gridley. Freeman, 81, Yates Center, died Friday, Sept. 29, at a Yates Center nursing home. Mr. Freeman was a carpenter in Coffey and Woodson counties until he retired four years ago. He was married to Estella Curtis April 9, 1927, at Le Roy. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Beatrice Shaffer, Yates Center; two sons, Earl B. Freeman and Richard Freeman, both of Burlington; three sisters, Mrs. Geraldine Beal, Santa Maria, Calif., and Mrs. Betty Gifford and Mrs. June Heffron, both of Burlington; four brothers, Jack Freeman, Primghar, Iowa, Pete Freeman, Osage City, and Calvin Freeman and Melvin Freeman, both at Burlington; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at First Christian Church in Yates Center. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery southeast of Burlington.
