Coffey died suddenly in his home at Montebello on Thursday (October 29, 1942) at noon, following an attack of coronary thrombosis according to report, by Dr. H. E. Clarke. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Fannie C. Coffey, Montebello; one daughter, Mrs. J. D. Taylor, Massies Mill; three sisters, Mrs. Annister Weaver, Craigsville; Mrs. Linda Bryant, Craigsville; Mrs. Belle Thompson, Roseland; an adopted son, Tom Ramsey, Montebello. Active pallbearers were: Orion Taylor, Willard Taylor, Elwood Taylor, Ralph Coffey, Claude Coffey and Bernard Taylor. Burial was in the family cemetery near the home. He married Frances Catherine Coffey on March 25, 1890 in Nelson Co.
