Died Oct. 23, 1924 at the age of 72 years, 4 months and 17 days, at the home of Arthur Meads in Clarinda, Iowa. On Sept. 30 he was stricken with apoplexy which was the cause of his death. Kind hands did all that was possible but his Savior had called him home. When still a boy he moved with his parents John and Julia Meads to Ray Co., Missouri. On June 11, 1874 he was united in marriage to Miss Lucinda Duncan; to this union ten children were born, five dying in infancy. Those remaining are Mrs. Bert Lister and Mrs. Sam Lister of Gravity, Iowa, Mrs. Ben Welch of Clarinda, Mrs. Edwin Wyld of Des Moines and Mrs. Clifford Worthan of Braddyville, Iowa. Soon after his marriage he moved to Page Co., Iowa where the most of his life was spent on a farm. On Nov. 24, 1907 his wife passed away and he was married again to Mrs. Susan Meads Nov. 3, 1909 who with the five daughters and two brothers and one sister are left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband, father, brother. Besides these mentioned he leaves 26 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. When a young man he became converted but later became indifferent, and was reclaimed in the winter of 1894-95 under the pastorate of Rev. E. N. Miller and has lived a consistent Christian life ever since. During his last illness he said he was ready to go and Jesus was so near him. The funeral services were held in the Free Methodist church conducted by Rev D C Eddy of Oskaloosa, Iowa, a former pastor. Interment was in the Summit Cemetery. submitted by Julia Johnson #47176433
