Description	:	Death of Mr. E. G. Gaddy Mr. E. G. Gaddy died at his home near Olive Branch, in New Salem township, Saturday morning about 11 o'clock of heart failure. He was stricken only about twenty-four hours before his death and was carried to his home nearby in an arm chair. He was 78 years old on the 4th day of last October and was one of the best citizens of the county. Gaddy died at his home near Olive Branch, in New Salem township, Saturday morning about 11 o'clock of heart failure. He was stricken only about twenty-four hours before his death and was carried to his home nearby in an arm chair. He was 78 years old on the 4th day of last October and was one of the best citizens of the county. Mr. Gaddy was a member of the 37th regiment, company D, of the Union county troops in the Civil war and served the entire four years. He was a unique character, a man of fine sense and was a power in his community. He was also a very good man, a member of the Baptist church and a consecrated christian gentleman. Mrs. Gaddy preceded him to the grave about 3 years ago. He is survived by one son, Mr. A. A. Gaddy of Olive Branch, and four daughters, Mrs. M. E. Griffin of Marshville, Mrs. Arrilla Kirk of Albemarle, Mrs. W. B. Christenbury of Mecklenburg county and Mrs. Emma Ross, who lived with her father at the time of his death. Mr. W. A. Gaddy of Anson county is a brother and Rev. A. C. Davis of Olive Branch is a half brother of the deceased. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock by Rev. M. D. L.
