Wigfield, 81, of Cumberland, entered Heaven’s gates “with thanksgiving and praise” hearing “well done good and faithful servant; enter into the joy of your salvation.” Born November 1, 1934, in Oakland, MD, she was the daughter of the late Theodore E. Sines and Rose (Pysell) Sines. She is preceded in death a mere 29 days (August 16, 2016) by the love of her life, Joseph L. Wigfield; additionally, a sister, Dessie Bowman, Oakland, MD. Elinor was a member of the class of 1952 of Oakland High School and received her Elementary Teaching Degree from Frostburg State Teachers College (1956). Her career spanned 32 years teaching second grade at Pangborn Elementary School in Washington County, Johnson Heights, Cresaptown and Bel-Air Elementary Schools in Allegany County. She was a member of the Maryland Retired Teachers Association and Who’s Who in American College and Universities. Elinor was an active member of Central Assembly of God Church, where she served in many leadership positions. She enjoyed teaching, traveling, reading, gardening, and serving others; what brought her most joy was spending time with her family. She is survived by her only daughter, Yvonne Hurst and husband Robert; one special grandson, Rev. Mikhail Hurst, Burke, VA; two younger sisters, Leota Martin, Crellin, MD, and Patience Fitzwater, Mountain Lake Park, MD; as well as several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland on Friday, September 23, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Central Assembly of God, with one hour of visitation prior. Pastor Larry Green will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Fred Clawson, Paul Demers, Steve Faulkner, Jimmie Flanagan, Davey Hayes, Ronnie Kifer. Honorary pallbearers will be Michelle Murphy, Crystal Murray, Rose Dentinger, Angela Bartlett, Theresa Cage, Emilee Drew, Jeannie Miller.
