God bless. ༺⊰❁ Magdalena Elisabeth Nauman (Norman) Stonebarger (Steinberger) was the daughter of John Gottlieb (1729-1791) and Magdalena Dorothea Kuensemoeller Nauman, born in the year of 1749 in Evangelish, Halle Stadt, Westfalen, Prussia (which I believe is in Germany today). God bless. ༺⊰❁ Magdalena Elisabeth Nauman (Norman) Stonebarger (Steinberger) was the daughter of John Gottlieb (1729-1791) and Magdalena Dorothea Kuensemoeller Nauman, born in the year of 1749 in Evangelish, Halle Stadt, Westfalen, Prussia (which I believe is in Germany today). She is known as Elizabeth in the Steinberger records as she went by her middle name. Elizabeth was christened on March 25, 1749. She is the elder sister to John Christian Nauman/Norman. Elizabeth Nauman married John Isaiah Stonebarger (Stoneberger/Steinbarger/Steinberger). Known children of John Isaiah and Elizabeth Nauman Stonebarger: 1) George Steinberger, born December 26, 1780, Shenandoah County, Va.; death September 23, 1858 in Union, Hardin County, Iowa. Married Nancy Lockard. 2) John Nauman Steinberger, born December 26, 1782, Shenandoah County, VA.; death September 12, 1851, Champaign County, OH. Married Elizabeth Pence. 3) Elizabeth Steinberger, b. 1783, Shenandoah, Virginia. Death 1824 in Bartholomew County, Indiana, USA. Married Judge John Pence on July 4, 1803 in Shenandoah, Virginia, USA. 4)Henry Steinberger, born April 5, 1786, Shenandoah County, VA.; death April 5, 1867, Indiana. Married Polly Bozell in 1813. 5) Frederick Steinberger, born February 6, 1791, Shenandoah County, VA.; death January 25, 1867, Bartholomew County, IN. Married Rebecca Kiser. 6) Catherine Steinberger, born March 25, 1793, Shenandoah County, VA.;death April 15, 1843, Bartholomew County, Indiana. Married Benjamin Pence. Elizabeth Nauman Stonebarger passed away from her earthly bonds in 1798, Shenandoah County, VA. Elizabeth was buried in Shenandoah, Page County, Virginia in the family cemetery. Her body may or may not be resting next to John. According to Constance Steinberger one of John's two wives was buried next to him in Indiana, but at the time she was not able to determine which one sine there was then no known knowledge of where Elizabeth Friermoot Steinberger was buried, but her burial place has now been found in Champaign County, Ohio as she had moved back to Ohio after selling the Indiana farm to live near her son David who took care of her until her death. If true then this leaves Elizabeth being buried next to John in Indiana. I cannot find the records or source information used by Constance so her burial location will remain listed as being in Virginia, though that cemetery has long since been trampled by the cows of farmers who later owned the property, which destroyed all the headstones. All records of where and who was buried there has also been lost by those historians in charge of such records. But they insist she be listed as being buried there, so to keep peace I have listed her burial as in Virginia, though as meticulous as Constance was with her research I believe she is resting next to John, likely transferred there by the same relative who transferred John's body to rest in the Steenbarger Cemetery. Elizabeth had passed away in early 1798 prior to John's marriage to Elizabeth Friermoot (Friermond) on March 10, 1798. May our dear Elizabeth Nauman Steinberger, our beloved grandmother of generations, finally rest peacefully in the blessed presence of our Lord Jesus Christ. When John died he was buried he was buried in his Continental uniform. (He did serve under George Washington at some point and loved him very much due to his compassion for his men serving under him. Thus the first son was named George Washington Stoneberger (Steenbarger) and the second son carried John's first name and the maiden name of his mother.) It was a grandson by the name of Joseph who moved John (and likely Elizabeth Nauman Stoneberger /Steinberger) from Flat Rock to his farm where his final resting place is today. John and likely Elizabeth were moved because John's second wife Elizabeth Friermoot Stonebarger (Steinberger) sold the farm in Indiana and she returned to Ohio to live with their son David. She died in 1854 and is buried at Nettle Creek. Also note the last name on the headstone for John, which was added many years later by the descendants of John Nauman Steenbarger, is Steinberger, though his last name was Stoneberger, or at times spelled Stonebarger.
